Download the roughly 500 MB model once. Your data stays on your machine. Local dictation uses more battery and memory.
Change the default in Settings or from the menu-bar icon. Local dictation never silently falls back to Cloud.
Private RAG
Your source files and private index stay on your machine. Your Mac finds the important information for each question. If you choose Cloud for the answer, only that bounded, redacted information enters the transient request.
